It's hard now to believe the extent, and lack of regulation, of uranium mining in those days. Our grandkids' kids though may look back on coal mining as just about as bad.

Stupid question from me -- does the mining of uranium create an issue of radioactivity? I assumed it was from the processed material, not the material in raw form.
