UC Berkeley Doe Library (0426)

The Doe Memorial Library (the main library) at UC Berkeley. Built in 1911 in the Classic Revival Style, the main reading room extends almost the full length. With long rows of tables; natural light from large, high, windows; walls of filled bookcases; and little change in architecture from the original, the reading room provides a dramatic sense of connection to a long history of scholarship and knowledge. (Sitting on the wall is a tour group of college-age young adults.)
