Scout (517)

Scout (517)
Scout emptying the water bowls. The shelter thought she was 3, my vet guessed not quite that old. She's very thin (roughly 5.5 lbs), and the shelter thought that was due to competing with other cats for food. She's eaten well since coming home and has gained a little. My vet checked her out and said she appeared to be okay.

My cat had this same look when I adopted him. So much so that I named him Jambo, because he reminded me of the long-legged, skinny cats I saw in Kenya years ago. He's black, so he looked like a big spider or a small monkey when he was a kitten. He never did really fatten up like most cats do, so I think he has one of the Oriental breeds mixed in.

She's much fuller looking now, thou still quite trim. I'm fairly certain there's some Siamese in her blood line, the structure of her face has multiple similarities to Siamese. Like other Siamese I've known, she is almost dog-like in some of her behaviors (e.g., she plays like a puppy in many ways, including sometimes bringing balls back and putting them in my lap when we're playing catch).

Funny, I've thought "Siamese" about mine, too. He meows loudly and often, which can drive me crazy, especially first thing in the morning. Although 13 years old, he still plays a lot, so my granddaughter is a better match for him than I am!
