I saw a number of what I suspect are cinder cones between here and Death Valley when we passed through last year. If I remember right, there were several between Amargosa and the entrance to the national park.

They''re quite common either side of the Nevada/Calif border from about Reno down. Owens Valley has many very dramatic ones.
