Could not find much information other than that John Sharp was an early resident of the area and this monument was originally in the center of the town and was a drinking fountain and horse watering trough (combined). What caught my eye was the ceramic tile scene on the monument, which is not at all reflective of what the central valley looks like (very flat), even when the monument was created in 1915.
