Just a block and half down the street from 8 Octavia, 1600 Market at Franklin, VARA. VARA is the only one of the buildings listed so far that will consist soley of affordable apartments. In SF a person qualifies to rent there as a single if their income is no more than $38,950. This photo is part of an effort to document the tremendously high level of residential construction occurring in San Francisco. The project documented in this photo is one of 11 large-scale housing developments that are being built in a 10 block area that stretches for about a mile from the Castro neighborhood towards downtown.
