Ridge Route in northern LA county. The concrete portion appears to be the original, 1915, route. Though not visible from this photo, the land on the left side of the road drops off very quickly. See description of Ridge Route with nearby picture.

Very interesting. Every time I've driven over The Grapevine I've wondered if any section on the old Ridge Route was still drivable. I'll have to check this out sometime.

I've tried to find information on the Ridge Route, but hasn't been that easy to find so decided to just go and see what I could find since I was going through the area. This went a fair amount further south than I explored, but didn't have the time to go further on this trip. I know that somewhere out there the US Forest Service has it blocked off due to a landslide.
