Plaque describing the Community Church of Palm Springs. Per the plaque, the Community Church was dedicated in 1936 and is built of what is described as vernacular brick. Searching the web suggested that the term 'vernacular brick' may refer to relatively simple and unadorned architecture (which is true of the building) or to brick that is made from local materials -- the brick, in this case, looks similar to concrete.
