The light here is wonderful.

There's something about the way a lot of California mountains weather and crumble that really appeals to me. I love the boulders that find themselves spread over everything.

The light in the LA Basin and in the Coachella Valley is often spectacular when there's a storm -- wish I was better at capturing it. If James reads this, he'll know the answer to the next -- aren't the western mountains newer in geological age? There's also the fact that we don't have the shrubs and vines that cover everything...
