Thursday 9 September 2021 (0827) – I often try to capture vehicles in out of the ordinary locations particularly when on diversions etc. A road closure for drainage and road repairs in The Street, Barton Mills resulted in the diversion of the two Mulleys Motorways services through the village this week.
Scania N94UD OmniCity YN54 AHE is seen here at the end of the diversion route about to turn from Church Lane to Mildenhall Road when working the 0755 service 357 from Cavenham to Mildenhall - primarily a school related service which is also available to the general public. It was new to Nottingham City Transport in September 2004 as their number 211.
Note the Barton Mills village sign just by the front of the bus. Lamb Cottage was once The Lamb pub although it has been a private house for many years.

Friday 7 October 2016 (1220) – I took a ride on Stagecoach East Optare Solo 47436 (YJ56 AOL) working service 3 in Bedford. The service travels along the raised section of London Road (a bridge that once crossed the Cambridge-Oxford railway line) which offers a high view of the company’s garage in St. John’s Street.
In this photograph snapped from on board the bus there was unfortunately a man walking past just at the wrong moment who helped fill the shot. However, a little photo editing has beheaded him for his misdemeanour! The garage was originally built for the United Counties Omnibus Company and the ghostly outline of the company name is visible on brickwork.
