Friday 15 May 2026 (1022) – Drummer Street Bus Station, Cambridge A2B Travel Group YC67 NLV is an EVM bodied Mercedes-Benz 314CDI that was new to Focus Learning Trust in December 2017. The Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority (CPCA) is embarking on a franchising model for the region’s bus services using the ‘Tiger’ name with a livery featuring red relief towards the rear. This mini-bus lacks the red though. Beyond that is Whippet Coaches WG111 (BT66 MVL), a Wright Eclipse 3 bodied Volvo B8RLE new in December 2016, working the 1025 service X3 to Huntingdon.

Friday 24 May 2019 (1434) – West Midlands Travel 92 (BX65 WAA), a Caetano Levante bodied Volvo B8R new in September 2015, seen leaving the National Express Coach Station in Manchester. It was working the 0900 service 541 from London to Whitehaven where it was due to arrive at 1935. At the rear it carries a colourful winning entry of the National Express ‘Colour the Coach’ children’s art competition. On the left is F Stott and Sons of Milnsbridge BK14 LFF, a Caetano Levante bodied Volvo B9R new in June 2014, working the 1235 National Express service 351 from Blackpool to Leeds

Saturday 25 May 2019 (0853) – Stagecoach North West 47334 (PX06 FYE), an Optare Solo new July 2006, and Preston Bus 40622 (PF13 XAC), a Wright Eclipse Gemini bodied Volvo B5LH new in April 2013, seen leaving Preston bus station. Preston’s iconic bus station opened in October 1969 and a leaflet published by Ribble Motor Services for the opening said it was the largest bus station in Britain. The ground level passenger concourse is topped by a multi-storey car park with each deck featuring upturned fluted curves giving the building a most original look. In 2000 the City Council was planning its demolition to create a new city centre development but objections were raised to that plan and the campaigners successfully managed to obtain Grade II listing thus ensuring the building’s future.

Sunday 22 March 1992 – Bee Line Buzz Company was owned by Drawlane and had a yard in Miall Street, Rochdale although this view of the rear side of the property was the taken in Hare Street. All these buses are Park Royal bodied Leyland Atlanteans. Left to right: 723 (NRN 387P) had been new to Ribble Motor Services as their 1387 in February 1976. It passed to the North Western Road Car Company when the Merseyside operations of Ribble were separated in readiness for privatisation. Livery is that of North Western. 726 (UPK 125S) had been new to London Country in March 1978 as their AN 125. Bee Line fleet livery. ??? (UPK 137S) had been new to London Country in April 1978 as their AN 137. London Country livery. 683 (OCO 109S) had been new to Plymouth City Transport in January 1978 as their 109. Bee Line fleet livery.

The company operates three different formats of this body on the ‘Purbreck Breezer’ services, fully covered, partially covered and convertible. 1705 is a partially covered example.

During building work (seen on the left) some of the bus loading area was lost and buses were having to load in two long lines (in the hope that the one(s) in front get away promptly). Easter Saturday 6 April 1985 (approx. 1445) – Drummer Street bus station, Cambridge Left: Midland Red South 5 (BVP 787V), a Plaxton Supreme bodied Leyland Leopard new to Midland Red (787) in July 1980, which had worked service 905 from Birmingham a service that had its origins as Premier Travel service 5. Right: Percival Motors (Oxford) Limited 73 (786 AFC), a Plaxton Supreme bodied Bedford YMT new in January 1980 registered CJO 321V, had just arrived when working the 1110 Lowestoft-Bristol service 747, a cross-country worked jointly with Premier Travel and National Express. This was day 2 of a diagram that covered the 0615 Cambridge-Lowestoft (1000) run followed by the 1110 Lowestoft-Bristol (2015) run. This was a period when some of the independent express coach service operators like Percivals, Premier Travel and Yelloway chose to become joint operators with National Express on what had once been their own services prior to de-regulation. They later became contractors to National Express before different circumstances saw them withdraw from such work.

Plaxton Centro bodied Volvo B7RLE 803 (DX57 TVW) is seen in Exeter Road/Gervis Place, Bournemouth. According to an Internet source it was new to Lloyds of Machynlleth (probably with a ‘WYN’ registration) sold to Minsterley Motors within a year and bought by Yellow Buses in 2012.

It is a Scania C94UB OmniCity which had been new to Nottingham City Transport (532) in May 2003. Basic colour scheme is that of NCT. It would have worked the 0734 service 620 from Hastingleigh.

Wednesday 6 June 2012 (0701) - Astons Coaches of Worcester Optare Solo MX56 NLJ seen on Belle Vue Terrace, Great Malvern. about to work the 0700 service 675 to Ledbury. The first two trips of this service travel direct from here to Wyche Cutting (going south) whereas the remaining five trips thereafter travel via West Malvern which means they pick up on the opposite side of the road and travel out of town going north. We stayed at the Mount Pleasant Hotel and our room was the top floor window of the red brick building (adjacent to the stone building). Flags to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II adorn the buildings.
