Connex Bus DPL11 (Y211 HWJ) in Croydon – 23 Jun 2001 (475-9)

Saturday 23 June 2001 (approx. 0815) – Connex London DPL11 (Y211 HWJ) seen in Park Lane, Croydon town centre.

Connex won the contract to operate service 405 (West Croydon-Redhill) at short notice in April 2001 when Arriva abandoned its East Surrey operations. Four 10.7 metre long Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Darts were speedily acquired for the work numbered DPL11-14. The four buses were nearly two years old but had not operated on UK roads. Two had worked for Airport Handling at Manchester Airport and all four had worked for Bus Eireann in Ireland.

In September 2003 the service 405 contract passed to Metrobus and DPL11-14 were sold to other operators.
