County Bus and Coach TP61 (B261 KPF) and Sovereign Buses 992 (K392 SLB) in St. Albans – 20 Sep 1997 (372-32)
Saturday 20 September 1997 – St. Peter’s Street, St. Albans.

Left: County Bus and Coach Company (Cowie Group) TP61 (B261 KPF), a Plaxton Paramount 3200 Express bodied Leyland Tiger that had been new to London Country Bus Services in January 1985, working Green Line service 724 to Heathrow Airport.

Right: Sovereign Buses (Blazefield Group) 992 (K392 SLB), a Plaxton Beaver bodied Mercedes-Benz O 709D new in May 1993 to Welwyn Hatfield Line, a company acquired by Sovereign in January 1990. It was heading for Verulam Estate.

The name Verulam is taken from Verulamium, the Roman city founded in A.D. 43 which developed and became St. Albans. St. Alban was a Christian martyr who died in the third century A.D.
