Chambers S848 DGX at Bury St. Edmunds – Jul 2005 (547-30)

Wednesday 20 or Thursday 21 July 2005 - H C Chambers and Son Limited S848 DGX, an East Lancs Pyoneer bodied Volvo Olympian new to Metrobus in August 1998, seen in the layover bays at Bury St. Edmunds bus station. Used on London contracted services it also had a centre exit door which had been removed after leaving Metrobus. The centre door was beneath the letters ‘AM’ of the large fleetname. Beneath the leading edge of the third lower deck window a small round plate can just be seen which covers where the emergency button for that door was.

Who was to know that some seven years later Metrobus and Chambers would be under common ownership in the Go-Ahead Group.
