Ensignbus (City Sightseeing) 347 (M647 RCP) in Cambridge – 15 Apr 2006 (557-16)

Saturday 15 April 2006 (Easter weekend) – Ensignbus 347 (M647 RCP) seen operating the City Sightseeing tour of Cambridge.

It is a Northern Counties Palatine bodied DAF DB250 new as a normal covered top bus in June 1995 apparently as a demonstrator on long term loan with Capital Citybus (300) for London contracted services.

Unusually it had by now been fitted with an offside passenger door presumably for export but it saw service in this form in some different UK City Sightseeing locations. I have read that it was eventually exported but its offside door was superfluous as it was sold to an operator in Cyprus and in Cyprus they drive on the left as we do in the UK.

The building work in the background was connected with the Grand Arcade Shopping Centre. The green screening was the Robert Sayle (John Lewis) store and whilst the building work was carried out had been relocated to the former Co-Op department store building in Burleigh Street near the Grafton Centre.
