Almost Thamesway 926 (M926 TEV) on test in Cayton Village – 12 August 1994 (237-15)

Friday 12 August 1994 – This unlettered bus was to become Thamesway 923 (M926 TEV) and was seen on Main Street in Cayton Village near Scarborough on test from the nearby Plaxton factory. It is a Plaxton Pointer bodied Dennis Dart which entered service during the following month (September 1994).

My paternal grandmother came from Cayton and we were on a rare family visit to see other relations there - my first visit to the village for a good few years. I was disappointed that the road surface was in course of renewal which prevented some more photogenic and memorable shots.

As a boy (late 1950s/early 1960s) we would visit my Great Aunts who lived in the house between the bus and the more distant contractor’s truck. I would stand by the tree above the bus to watch the blue East Yorkshire Motor Services buses and the Tilling red United Automobile Services buses go by.
