Libertybus 2603 (J 122040) in St. Helier - 9 Aug 2019 (P1040037)

Friday 9 August 2019 – Libertybus 2603 (J 122040) seen passing St. Matthew’s Church also known as the Glass Church. In 1934 Florence Boot, the wife of Jesse Boot the founder of Boot’s the Chemists, commissioned an extensive renovation of the church in memory of her late husband. Many of the interior features including the font, the altar rail, cross and pillars were designed by the French glass designer René Lalique.

The bus is an Alexander Dennis Enviro400D new in January 2013 at the time that CT Plus was awarded the contract to operate the public bus network on the island. CT Plus Jersey Limited part of the London based HCT Group. A renumbering of the fleet had occurred in the early part of the year and beneath the current fleet number 2603 on the front nearside corner the remains of the previous fleet number 603 can be seen. I wonder why they didn’t just stick a 2 in front of the original numbers?
