Fountain Coaches (Isle of Wight) YDL 942L - 9 May 1973

Fountain Coaches (Isle of Wight) YDL 942L - 9 May 1973
Wednesday 9 May 1973 - Fountain Coaches operated on the Isle of Wight. It became part of the National Bus Company under the control of The Southern Vectis Omnibus Company having previously been part of Shamrock and Rambler Coaches based in Bournemouth on the English mainland. Despite being NBC owned YDL 542L carried orange and cream livery that was a vestige of Shamrock and Rambler. The seat headrests covers carried the NBC ‘double N’ logo. It was a Duple Dominant bodied Bedford YMT that was new to SVOC in March 1973 as fleet number 121.

It was subsequently sold to an operator in the Irish Republic gaining registration number LZV 880. The photograph was taken at the company's garage in Carvel Lane, Cowes which was located on the site where Marks and Spencer now is. (Thanks to David Jolliffe for this information).
