Stort Valley LRU 822 (N959 DWJ) in Newmarket - 5 Sep 1999

Stort Valley LRU 822 (N959 DWJ) in Newmarket - 5 Sep 1999
Sunday morning 5 September 1999 – Stort Valley Coaches LRU 822, a Plaxton Premiere 320 bodied Dennis Javelin, was new in July 1997 as N959 DWJ. It had returned me to Newmarket High Street after an ‘extended day tour’ to Jersey. The trip sold by Biss Brothers coaches was marketed as the ‘Jersey Flyer’ – Biss and Stort Valley were related companies. I left Newmarket at 0030 in the early hours of the previous day (Saturday 4 September) for the journey to Weymouth where the party travelled on board the Condor Ferries ‘Condor Vitesse’ catamaran to St. Helier. In addition to free time in the Jersey capital we were taken on a round the island tour on Pioneer Coaches 5 (J 14609), a Wadham Stringer Vanguard bodied Leyland Swift. We then returned from St. Helier to Weymouth on board the ‘Condor Express’ catamaran. To be met by LRU 822 which had stayed in Weymouth all day before conveying us back to East Anglia.
