Monday 17 June 1991 – Despite it being 2000 hours on what was almost the longest day of the year, a large storm cloud was just passing over RAF Mildenhall to dampen and darken what would otherwise have been a nice summer evening. Premier Travel Services 394 (D813 SGB), a Plaxton Paramount 3500 bodied Volvo B10M new to Park’s of Hamilton in May 1987, was working the 0850 cross country National Express service 747 from Paignton to Norwich. This road and coach stop (opposite Mickey’s Tea Bar) are inaccessible to the general public these days as a result of tightened security around the U.S. Air Force air base. National Express used to serve here a number of times per day but there has been no service for a number of years now.
