Cambridge Coach Services K392 FEG at Cambridge - 19 Apr 1994

Tuesday 19 April 1994 - The odd one out in the otherwise full size coach fleet of Cambridge Coach Services was 492 (K392 FEG), an 18 seat Caetano Optimo bodied Toyota Coaster HDB30R. Bought in 1993 primarily for contract work, it was however seen here at Drummer Street bus station in Cambridge about to work the 1730 hrs service 70 to Birmingham! This new service commenced on Palm Sunday (27 March 1994) offering four trips each way (with departure times from each end at 0830, 1230, 1730 and 2130) operating via Huntingdon, Thrapston, Kettering, Coventry, Birmingham Airport terminating at Birmingham, Bull Ring bus station. The service was scheduled to take three hours until the opening of the new A14 dual carriageway when arrival times would be 30 minutes earlier (that is to say Coventry going westbound and Kettering going eastbound). These were early days for the service and there were about 10 passengers on board when the coach departed.
