Ribble 1974 (LRN 62) in Preston - 14 Sept 1974

Ribble 1974 (LRN 62) in Preston - 14 Sept 1974
Saturday 14 September 1974 - Ribble Motor Services 1974 (LRN 62), a Burlingham bodied Leyland PD3/3 was new to Scout Motor Services in May 1958. Ribble acquired the Scout business in 1961 which was maintained as a separate subsidiary until 1968 when the fleet was absorbed into the main Ribble fleet. In this view the bus, now in National Bus Company red, was duplicating National Express service 875 between Blackpool and Liverpool (although the 875 in its entirety ran through to the South West of England). The body style was similar to 105 buses bought new by Ribble around the same time although those of Ribble were full fronted. The Ribble style destination blind layout was an original Scout specification though which wasn’t a feature when Scout ordered its Leyland Atlanteans delivered in 1960/1961.
