R W Chenery D398 BPE in Mildenhall - 26 Jun 1993 (192-25)
Saturday 26 June 1993 (1540) – Richard W Chenery of Dickleburgh, Norfolk became a contractor to National Express on 23 May 1993 primarily to work the Norwich to London ‘Rapide’ service 599 but the company also worked a summer Saturdays only trip on service 347 at 1050 from Lowestoft to Cambridge returning at 1505 from Cambridge to Lowestoft. Unlike the 599 service coaches which were operated by coaches in National Express livery, the 347 trip was usually worked by a coach in Chenery’s own livery. D398 BPE, a Kässbohrer-Setra S215HR which had been new to Davie’s of Rye in April 1987, was seen at King Street, Mildenhall when working the afternoon trip back to Lowestoft.
