A Barford Park Autumn
Captured at Barford Park, Enmore. In the distance between the trees you may catch a glimpse of the Georgian Barford House, named for the family who owned the previous house on the site during the 13th and 14th centuries.
I was interested to read that the current red brick building was built around 1710 for the Jeanes family, a local farming family. Many years later my father worked for Frank Jeanes on his farm at Currypool which is nearby.
The gates of the park are left open these days to allow traffic access to the local villages. My husband can recall the village bus using the road when he was a child living in Goathurst. He often used to open the gates for the bus driver and close them again before hopping back on the bus again.
On a nice sunny afternoon it was lovely to enjoy the peace and quiet in this beautiful area and to see the Autumn colours in the trees.
The song I have added is 'Forever Autumn' by Justin Hayward
