Absturzgefahr - Risk of falling

Gestern bei einer Wanderung über die Felder fand ich viele Gefleckte Wiesenschnaken (Nephrotoma appendiculata) in Paarung. Als Kopulationspaar flogen sie immer wieder auf und flogen eine kurze Strecke. Diese Schnakenart kommt in fast ganz Europa vor. Ihre Larven können durch Wurzelfraß in Pflanzenkulturen schädlich sein.

Yesterday, while hiking across the fields, I found many spotted crane flies (Nephrotoma appendiculata) in mating pairs. As a copulating pair, they repeatedly took off and flew a short distance. This species of crane fly occurs in almost all of Europe. Their larvae can be harmful to cultivated plants by feeding on the roots.
