Practically only in the forest, often on forest paths where the sun's rays create islands of light, rarely also at the edge of the forest, can the shy, medium-sized (Eurasian) white admiral (Limenitis camilla), be observed. The upper sides of the wings are rich brown-black, with white bands and a few orange spots, the undersides of the wings have a very beautiful pattern (see PiP). The butterflies are often found in wet places on the ground, even humans are occasionally approached to suck salty sweat. The (Eurasian) white admiral is considered endangered in Germany.
