Eine schon seit dem Altertum bekannte Heilpflanze ist der Huflattich (Tussilago farfara), dessen Blattinhaltsstoffe gegen Husten wirken (lat. Tussis = Husten), aber leider auch mutagene und cancerogene Alkaloide enthalten können. Nur geprüfte Drogen der genannten Pflanze dürfen deshalb gehandelt werden. In der Bildmitte drei Blüten in verschiedenen Stadien: ganz rechts kurz vor dem Aufblühen, in der Mitte kurz nach dem Verblühen und links schon bei der Samenbildung. Eine blühenden Huflattichgruppe zeigt das darunter gestellte Foto. Bemerkenswert ist außerdem, dass die Blätter vom Huflattich erst nach der Blüte erscheinen. Beide Fotos entstanden auf einer Ruderalfläche.

A medicinal plant that has been known since ancient times is the coltsfood (Tussilago farfara), whose leaf constituents are effective against coughs (lat. tussis = cough), but unfortunately may also contain mutagenic and carcinogenic alkaloids. Only tested drugs of the above-mentioned plant may therefore be traded. In the middle of the picture, three flowers in different stages: on the far right shortly before flowering, in the middle shortly after flowering and on the left already at seed formation. The photo below shows a group of coltsfoot that has just started to bloom. It is also remarkable that the coltsfoot leaves only appear after flowering. Both photos were taken in a ruderal area.
