Im Dampflokwerk Meiningen werden Dampflokomotiven repariert und wieder auf Vordermann gebebracht. Das Werk ist das letzte große Instandhaltungswerk für Dampflokomotiven in Europa.

Ja, Klasse! - Aber zu den Dampfloktagen warst Du wohl nicht!? Im PIP sieht es ziemlich "leer" aus. - Ganz fertig ist sie wohl noch nicht. Die Zylinder-Verkleidung ist noch ab.

Das PiP sieht deshalb recht leer aus, weil erstens unsere Gruppe die erste des Tages war und zweitens nicht so viele Lokomotiven zur Reparatur anstanden.

Ach so, war dann wohl ein normaler besuchsoffener Tag. Ich war mal zum Dampfloktreffen, was jährlich im Herbst stattfindet, da war dort mächtig was los und am rande der Schiebebühne waren laute Händlertische für Modellbahnartikel aufgestellt.

Als Kind lebte ich ganz in der Nähe des Aschaffenburger Bahnhofs und kann mich noch gut an die geschwärzten Häuser und den Krach erinnern. Die Elektrifizierung war eine richtige Wohltat. Trotzdem: Diese Lokomotiven sind schon imposant!

Mein erstes Heim in England wa über einem Banhof. , als wier nach Kent evakuiert wurden, konnte ich nicht einschlafen weil es so ruhig war!
