Similaun Tour - The Start
The summit of the Similaun (3,599 m) is 13.3 km away from the mountaineering village of Vent. There are 1,790 metres of altitude difference to overcome. The way back is just as long. Only hardcore alpinists can do it in one day.
You can make the tour easier by covering the first 7.9 km and 640 metres of altitude difference to the Martin-Busch-Hut on a pedelec. This also has the advantage that you can simply roll the same distance downhill later.
In order to be able to set off early and get used to the altitude, we spent the night in Vent (1,895 m) beforehand. This is affordable in simple guesthouses like the Sonnhof.
