The Pencarrow Head Lighthouse is a disused lighthouse at Pencarrow Head. At the entrance of Cookstrasse he was groundbreaking for the trip to Wellington.
The cast iron parts for the tower were shipped from England to New Zealand. Very specifically the first guard, was a Mrs. Mary Jane Bennett, she also remained the only female lighthouse keeper in New Zealand. In 1935 it was taken out of service, and replaced by the Baring Head Lighthouse which stands at the bottom of the water
