A little sunshine today brought out the Green Tiger Beetles, these have to be one of the fastest moving beetles in the UK, they seldom stop for more than a few seconds at a time.

A Tube Tailed Thrip larva found under loose bark, Shrewsbury, Shropshire, 5th March 2014. Taken at 5x magnification, the larva was about 3mm in length.

I'm not sure what this is, first though was that it was a Rove Beetle but they were very slow moving, its got a body length of 3 mm and is very flat, found under loose bark. The out of focus orange coloured insects appear to be larvae of the same species, will post a pic of one of them too.
I'm now reasonably sure this is a Thysanoptera, a Thrip, probably one of the Phlaeothripidae, a Tube Tailed or Wingless Thrip. Taken at 5x magnification at Shrewsbury, Shropshire.
