The small (5m high) coastal lighthouse at Fuglenesodden, Hammerfest, was established in 1859 and active until 1911 when it was replaced by an automated light. It is part of the Fuglenesodden Outdoor Museum.
The building on the right is not an outhouse but the oljehuset (oil house), used for storing the paraffin needed to operate the lighthouse.

Near Tahua (3868m) on the shores of Salar de Uyuni, the world's largest salt flat. This Aymara woman has gathered tola (Parastrephia lepidophylla), a resinous shrub of the Asteraceae family that grows in the Altiplano and that in the absence of trees is used for firewood. Chiu Chiu is a a small village in the Atacama desert, situated at 2525m in an oasis by the River Loa. It has been inhabited by Atacameños since pre columbian times and was part of the Camino del Inca.
The colonial church dates from 1611 and is a National Monument since 1951. The two bell towers are unusual, typically churches in the area have a single bell tower standing separate from the church itself.
The gate and church door are made of cactus wood and held together by strips of leather.

":..workers from Chile, Peru and Bolivia lived in company towns and forged a distinctive communal pampinos culture. That culture is manifest in their rich language, creativity, and solidarity, and, above all, in their pioneering struggle for social justice, which had a profound impact on social history. Situated in the remote Pampas, one of the driest deserts on Earth, thousands of pampinos lived and worked in this hostile environment..."

The heart shaped traffic lights of Akureyri were introduced to keep locals from speeding and ignoring red lights- it worked!
Sadly the road administration has now called for their removal because selfie taking tourists are putting themselves in risky situations.

In Iceland the American and Eurasian plates are rifting apart by an average of 2 cm a year. This doesn't happen continuously but episodically, usually accompanied by earthquakes and volcanic eruptions.
