Das Hnappadalur liegt auf der Snæfellsnes- Halbinsel. Lavafelder, die Rauðamelur- Schlackekegel sowie dIe Doleritklippen von Gerðuberg www.ipernity.com/doc/523247/45038916 gehören zum Vulkansystem Ljósufjöll. Dieses hat in letzter Zeit mit sehr häufigen kleinen Erdbeben von sich reden gemacht, es bewegt sich Magma im Untergrund und irgendwann wird ein (ungefährlicher) Ausbruch erwartet.
