That massive mountainous backdrop completely dwarfs the rest of the landscape and the buildings................but what a superb view and capture Gudrun. Beautifully composed with gorgeous colours and detail.

I like the image in the PiP as well..............I usually read a book on train journeys, but with this sort of surroundings I'd definitely be looking out of the windows!

Thanks a lot, Keith! On this line you'd be too preoccupied with gazing at the landscape and the many engineering feats;-) For photos I had to seek out the door area as this was the only place where the windows would open.

Herzlichen Dank, Edna! Da hat man einen Sitzplatz, nur um dauernd zwischen den Waggons an den Türen zu stehen, weil man da das Fenster halb aufmachen kann zum Fotografieren;-)

Tja, da würde sich ein nicht-sitzplatz vielleicht lohnen ;-))
Und das zu öffnende fenster erinnert mich wieder an die alten züge von früher...war das schön! Da gab's nie probleme mit der klimaanlage :-))

Bei meiner ersten Reise mit der Berninanbahn hatten wir einen Graubünden-Pass und der Schweizer Panoramio-Fotofreund, der alles organisiert hatte, ist zielstrebig zu dem einen alten Waggon ganz am Zugende, wo man die Fenster aufmachen konnte. Im nächsten Zug waren wir im Fahrrad-Abteil, auch mit zu öffnenden Fenstern;-)
Diese Reise hier war leider im Panoramawagen, oben verglast, aber nichts zu öffnen....

Majestic scenery to see, Gudrun, on a very long train. I imagine that little village in the valley could be cut off from the main roads in bad winter weather.

Thanks a lot, Amelia! The train joirney is fun and with the many curves it's best to be in one of the carriages in front or at the end:-) I don't think the villages are cut off often, they know how to deal with the conditions.
