Easy to see where the ice has calved away from the main glacier............it's brought those wonderful colours and those fascinating "veins" in the ice to the forefront..!!

An interesting looking cave in the PiP..............not sure I'd want to explore inside it though if the ice is unstable!

Even in the newly exposed blue ice there seems to be thin 'dirty' layers. Considering that the glacier calved only a week before most of it had melted.. What a super trip you've had, Gudrun.

Thanks a lot, Amelia! Glaciers do usually show their "growth rings" when a bit breaks off:-) This part of Greenland has continental climate with dry warm summers (27°C this year!) and very cold winters (-40°C), so a lot of dust gets blown around in summer which also settles on the ice.
