Du warst also verreist, liebe Gudrun ;-) - und im September machst du einen "großen Urlaub" ;-))...Es ist nicht einfach, diese beiden Dinge zu unterscheiden ;-)))!
Was für eine schöne Erinnerung: 1994 sind wir auch auf den Gornergrat gefahren. Von dort oben konnte man mehrere 4000er sehen. Mal sehen, ob dieser Link zu meinen Panoramio-Fotos funktioniert...

Schönen Dank, Uli! Haha, der "große" Urlaub bezieht sich auf Entfernung (und Kosten), das hier war ja nur ins Nachbarland. Das ist von uns aus in etwa so, als ob ihr schnell mal nach Holland fahrt;-)
Der Unterschied zu deinen Fotos von 1994 ist erschreckend, ich werde gelegentlich noch mehr Bilder posten, da sieht man, wie weit die Gletscher zurückgegangen sind...

Thanks a lot, Amelia! What I found very dramatic was how far the glaciers had retreated:-( It was still 16°C up at 3100m, Zermatt had 24 in the shade and over 30 in the sun, so no real escape...;-)

Gracias, Mario! The Incas were not alone in believing that the mountains were the seats of gods, Vikings and Buddhists among others also did! Therefore nobody is allowed to climb the holy mountain Mount Meru/ Kailash in Tibet. The Alps on the other hand have often been mistreated by man....

Zermatt an Weihnachten war großartig. Aber bei St. Moritz teile ich die Erfahrung. (Um Zara, Douglas, Svarowvski oder Omega-Läden zu besichtigen, muss man dort wirklich nicht hin.)

Ja, wir waren auch in St, Moritz und ich war froh, dass das Hotel nicht mitten im Zentrum war:-) Prada und Lamborghini brauche ich auch nicht....

Möglich, dass Zermatt an Weihnachten anders ist. Im August musste man aufpassen, nicht von den vielen Elektrokarren umgenietet zu werden, die sich alle nicht an die 20 kmh hielten. Dazu noch die Radfahrer (Chinesen auf Mieträdern), das hat definitiv keinen Spass gemacht. Gefühlt gab's nur Touristen, Hotels und Touristenläden.

Bist du auch zum Observatorium gelaufen, Gudrun, oder noch weiter? Wir haben damals sogar ein ruhiges Fleckchen für ein Picknick entdeckt und dort die Raben gefüttert ;-) (Habe mir heute meinen Videofilm angeschaut). Aber so überlaufen wie heutzutage war es damals noch nicht. Aber du kennst ja meinen Standpunkt: "Wo ich sein möchte, wollen andere auch hin ;-)))"

Hinter dem Hotel/ Restaurant/ Observatorium ist ja noch eine Aussichtsplattform und von dort gehen diverse Wege ab, die sind wir teilweise langgelaufen. Dort ging die Frequenz an Selfiesticks gegen Null;-)

Der große Gletscher hat seither vor allem an Mächtigkeit eingebüsst und die kleinen Gletscher rechts sind weiter nach oben gewandert und nicht mehr mit dem Hauptgletscher verbunden....
