Beautifully backlit Ginkgo biloba, especially with the background colour. Just as well your SD card wasn't faulty when you were in Norway.

Thank you so much, Amelia! A faulty SD is my nightmare, I had it happen once on holiday when a brand new card had an irreparable error. Thankfully I always save my photos at least once a day onto a hard disk so only a handful were lost. This time it was "only" a reading error, after formatting the card works again, but of course the photos are gone....

Danke, aNNa! Auf der Kamera konnte ich die Bilder noch sehen, aber beim Übertragen muss irgendwas passiert sein, danach ging nichts mehr- außer alles neu formatieren.
Urlaubsbilder zu verlieren ist echt der GAU!

Ah, great minds think alike! Don't feel too badly about losing your other image for the challenge, because you have taken some perfect images for it! I love all three images, but your main submission is exquisite! You have met and exceeded the challenge requirements beautifully, Gudrun!

All three of these images are really lovely Gudrun: The main image in particular is superbly composed and I really like the translucent fan shaped leaves and the gorgeous blue tones in the background. The first PiP is also very impressive for much the same reasons.

The second PiP is my favourite...........the Acer (?) leaves look terrific in the sunlight and your clever use of depth of field has produced a riot of wonderful bokeh..!!

Sorry to hear of your SD card troubles.................always a photographer's nightmare. It happened to me a few years ago, but I was lucky to have a clever friend who recovered the photos for me with some recovery software. On his advice the largest capacity card I use now is 32gb.........that limits the amount of photos you can lose. My current camera has two SD card slots, and if I'm shooting something important I can configure the camera to record on both cards simultaneously, so that if one gets corrupted I still have the other. Worth thinking about if you ever change your camera. Sorry, I'm waffling and you probably know all this already :-))

The trouble with this card started when I wanted to download the photos, nothing worked any longer so I reformatted it and it seems to work again. btw this was a (fast) 32gb card and it was rather full already, so maybe the error occurs right at the end? I won't put it to the test again:-)
The 32gb is my largest SD, I usually only use 8 or 16gb and rather take several cards. On holiday I always save my photos to a picture tank at least once a day.
I would love to have a camera with two card slots but Canon only does them for the 5D, not the cheaper 6D.It's something for the wish list...

You have captured 3 beautiful pictures, back lit by the sunshine, giving the leaves a translucency! All have a beautiful warm quality and I especially like the main shot. I think it's the shapes and gorgeous blue sky that makes it special.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...I'm so SORRY to hear about the error on your card!!!!! That SUCKS!!!!! That happened to me once...I spent hours taking pictures and came home and the card was bad. Oh I was so upset.

But worse than that was when my husband and I were on our motorcycle trip and that day we went to Yosemite...we were really just driving through but I got so many awesome pictures...or I think I did...when I backed up my files...I backed up the wrong ones and lost all of those pictures that day. When I realized they were all gone...I really had a hard time keeping it together. So, one thing we'll be doing sometime in the next yr or two is to go spend a WEEK at Yosemite to make up for those lost treasures.

Maybe it's not such a bad thing that you lost an afternoon's pictures, but you will never get them back :*( *feeling bad for you*

I once had a brand new card that had a defect and I could never recover the photos, thankfully there weren't many as I had already backed up most of them. This time it was a bit of a drag to go out and do it all again, but it could have been worse;-)

Ha, wenn Deine "Not-Bilder" schon so toll geworden sind, Gudrun, dann mag ich mir gar nicht vorstellen, was auf dem Chip alles verloren gegangen ist.
Ich kann mich gar nicht entscheiden, welche Aufnahme mir hier am besten gefällt - der Gingko ? die Linde ? Bild 3 mit den irren Farben im Bokeh ? Alle toll !
Bin beeindruckt, was Du aus dem 70er-Makro rausholst, Gudrun. Dieses Objektiv ist eh mein liebstes "Immerdrauf", ich weiß gar nicht, ob's außer von Canon, nochmal so 'ne "Eierlegendewollmilchsau" auf dem Objektiv-Markt gibt.

Herzlichen Dank, Heidi! Auf dem Chip waren ähnliche, viel ärgerlicher waren die verlorenen für TSC, da habe ich auf die Schnelle nichts Adäquates mehr hinbekommen. Bäume mit frisch ausgetriebenen Blättern gibt's zum Glück auch in der Nähe:-)
Dir Macro-Funktion habe ich gar nicht benutzt, dafür hingen die Blätter zu hoch:-) Eigentlich wäre das Tele noch besser gewesen, dann hätte ich auch die Eichhörnchen, die da noch rumgehüpft sind, besser erwischt...
