Long Cavaleur

Long Cavaleur
This less visited stretch of Guernsey's southwest coast has no sandy coves but lots of interesting cliffs.
Long Cavaleur (see inset photo) with its rock arch is slowly being eroded away. Both Long Cavaleur and Les Tielles in the background consist of reddish Icart gneiss, one of the oldest rocks in Britain, and are crossed by grey dolerite dykes.

Schönen Dank, Erika! Auf dem Abschnitt vom Coast Path sind leider kaum Bänkchen und keine beach cafés;-) Du musst dir einen Stein zum Draufsitzen suchen....

Wow,Klasse.
So ähnlich sieht die Küste auch hier auf Teneriffa an vielen Stellen aus...
Nur manchmal etwas dunkler beim Gestein...

Danke, Udo! Ja, Teneriffa ist halt vulkanisch, auf den Kanalinseln ist das alles uraltes Intrusivgestein, das irgendwann an die Oberfläche gekommen ist...

Besten Dank, Uwe! Ich fürchte, Guernsey im WInter ist eher unangenehm, zwar nicht so kalt wie bei uns, aber eklig klamm und feucht. Das mit dem Schnupfen kann ich dir nachfühlen... gute Besserung!

Herzlichen Dank, Ko! Der Coast Path ist im Mai besonders einladend, Im Herbst gibt es statt Blumen salzige Brombeeren;-)

Thanks a lot! I must admit I looked up the geological info only after the visit- I'm just an interested lay person;-) I feel I must go again, buy the booklet by La Société Guernesiaise and have a better look.
