Fishing In Deep Water

Fishing In Deep Water
The Grey Heron - Ardea cinerea - is a large wading bird which can stand up to 100cm (40in) tall with a wingspan of up to 195cm (77in). It breeds in colonies building its large nest high in tall trees but they have been known to nest in safe reed beds. They will take mainly fish which they stab with their bill but will also eat voles and other small mammals, frogs and worms. This one was seen fishing at Pennington Flash.
