Lokesvara is another name for Avalokiteśvara, a bodhisattva in Buddhism who is known for his compassion. The name Avalokiteśvara means "the lord who looks down" and Lokesvara means "Lord of the World". In Tibetan, Avalokiteśvara is known as Chenrezig.
