Angered by the defiance of man, Zeus devised the trip of a beautiful woman, Pandora, crafted from a mix of earth and water by the divine blacksmith Hephaistos (Vulcanus in Latin) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hephaestus Tomake her look like a goddess, Athena and Aphrodite adorned Pandora with the tricks of cosmetics and all sorts of dazzling jewels, clothes, and ornaments. Zeus’s diabolical plan was completed when Pandora, having become man’s steady companion, opened the jar tht had been given to her before being sent to earth with the command never to open it up. In the short amount of time in which Pandora, moved by an irresistible curiosity, held the lid of the jar open, all sorts of disasters spread into the world. By the time Pandora closed the jar only Hope remained trapped within the container. ` Page 25

There was nothing inherently evil about Pandora. Although she had been warned against opening the python, it was her innocent curiosity – a characteristic given by Hera –that led to her downfall. She could not resist peeping inside the jar, she pulled back the lit, and all the ills and misfortunes of the world flew out; Hunger, Sickness, Loss, Loneliness and Death. Horrified, Pandora hastily pushed the lid back on – just in time to prevent Hope from escaping. With hope the world could still preserve, des;ite the adversity that the jealous Zeus had inflicted on mankind.
