Running through the remote and leafy station at Middlewood, the Buxton Spa Express bashes on up the hill towards Disley.

Disused limestone quarry and processing works overlooking the Menai Straits. There was a small quarry and pier at this site before 1874 and then in 1888 William Baird & Co took over and developed the quarry to supply fluxing stone for their steelworks in Glasgow. After a period of low activity Dinmore Quarries Ltd commenced working the site, mainly producing kiln burnt lime for agriculture, and this continued until 1948 when all production ceased.

Austerity HE3791 cautiously descends Tenterden Bank on the approaches to Rolvenden on the Kent & East Sussex Railway. The straw on the road was a relic of a recent foot and mouth disease scare and had presumably been soaked in disinfectant when first laid down.

After photographing the train Buxton Spa Express at Middlewood, I drove up the A6 to Barmoor Clough just outside Dove Holes. Just a couple of minutes after I arrived on the bridge the train is seen bursting out of Barmoor Clough tunnel. The Peak Forest Tramway once ran on the land to the right of the wall in the foreground.

The houses on Rossett Road in Crosby nearly all had carved heads over the doorways when first built. Whilst some have been obliterated over the years, there are still eighteen survivors. The image is laid out with those on the north-west side of the road in order at the top with the south-east side in order at the bottom. Best viewed large .

The Lonsdale has been a cinema since early in the 20th century. It is now split with bingo in the rear stalls, and two small cinemas - seating 107 and 57 - in the original front stalls; accessed via the rear of the original building.
