Eugène Crosti by Constantin

Eugène Crosti (1833-1908); French bass-baritone. He made his debut in 1857 at the Opéra-Comique Paris. He sang e.g.the premières of Maillart's "Lara" (1864), Gevaert's "Le Capitaine Henriot" (1864) and Von Flotow's "Zilda" (1866). He created the rôle of Hilario in Massé's "Fior d'Aliza" (1866) and the rôle of Sir William Crusoé in Offenbach's "Robinson Crusoé" (1867).
He was also a voice-teacher and his most famous pupil was the tenor Léon Escalaïs.
