Your comments on teaching history, particularly the history of WW2 were spot on. The difficulties, however, are several. There is a great deal of revisionist history being propagated - I know a man who denies that the holocaust ever happened. Also, much of the important history of our times is simply passed over in the schools for other things. And, then, there is the fact that too many people simply do not want to know.
