'Hardwick hall'.. .. with Christmas decor.
Hardwick Hall in Derbyshire, is an architecturally significant Elizabethan country house . Built between 1590 and 1597 for the formidable Bess of Hardwick. Through four marraiges she gained wealth to become the second richest women in England after the Queen herself. Hardwick Hall is one of the earliest examples of the English interpretation of this style, Ownership of the house was transferred to the UK. National Trust in 1959. It is fully open to the public.

Thanks.. Nicolas.. the house was completed in 1597 and is mostly furnished.. much of it from an inventory of 1601.. but as seen here more modern furnishings remain from the last occupier of the Hall... Evelyn 'The Duchess of Devonshire' who died in 1960.
