The.. most clever.. 'Bosso Nova' auto stock checker.

The.. most clever.. 'Bosso Nova' auto stock checker.
I came across this robotic shelf stock scanner in a local store..and having an interest in things technical - and finding out how these things work .. I snapped it's actions.
[ Lucky - that I had a spare camera in my pocket !! ]
It appears that they are becoming more widely used among stores. The machine will travel the length of every aisle then turn and proceed along the next .. scanning and recording the stock contents of shelves. Shoppers do not need to move out the units' way.. as it will steer around them - then carry on with it's job. It will record the shelf stocks of the whole store automatically ...the operator with the laptop is only observing the machines progress .. Dj.

Pretty soon the operator will be replaced by another robot! And pretty soon afterward we will all be replaced by robots :)

Gotcha'... Nicolas'.. yes it's clever up until they decide they want their freedom and arm themselves before overthrowing human civilisation.... which is ok. - as long as they don't vaporise

Lovely capture, well done ;-) But sadly this replaces even more jobs.
I don't use self service checkouts for that very reason.
Have a nice evening.

Thanks June... many will agree with your point...the stores say that it releases staff to perform more useful duties....to quote a famous phrase..... ''well they would wouldn't they''...
You too... have a good evening... // Dj.

Hi David

Very nice photo, and nice idea, (but I do doubt its accuracy in spotting concealed items)
I have it on good authority that the recent virus outbreak in China has massively increased the uptake of stores with no human staff involved!!

Best Wishes,
Peter

Gotcha'.. thanks Peter.. on your news.. Since I came across this robot thing.. I thought that it recorded every item's bar code.. but I have since learned that it just detects empty spaces where stock needs replenishing and sends the info' on. Interesting stuff tho'.... // Cheers ! from David J'

WOW! That's totally fascinating!!! I have never seen this before, though it reminds me of a robot I have seen. When my father was in the hospital, the night before he came home for hospice, I arrived to visit with him from my home in Oregon--I flew down to San Francisco and my younger brother's wife and I went to the hospital to visit with him. We sat with my dad and I noticed a machine go past the door. My brother's wife told me that in the hospital there are lots of these shuttle machines that carry blood, plasma and other liquids and things here and there as requested by nurses and doctors. They beep-beep down the corridors making stops where they need to...and I just couldn't believe my eyes! :D Mind you, I haven't been in a hospital before or since that night for so many years I couldn't even tell you when, but gee, I never realized they'd gotten so futuristic in some places! (in case you're intrigued: www.google.com/search?q=hospital+robots&oq=hospital+robots&aqs=chrome..69i57j0l7.3476j0j4&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 )

Thanks for the picture and info...totally amazing to see! :)

I am sure Walmart would be using such things. Incidentally, the link to the G-Search also included video of the very 'bots that roam the UCSF hospital that my father was in!
