Ok...first I thought, the prince of wales arrived to celebrate his 71st birthday in Portsmouth Nick :)
Amazing...this carrier is much bigger than the house is! You had a box seat :)

Hi Tanja ~ Yes you could not get a better place to view. There were crowds of people lining the waterside to welcome the ship in ~~~

We saw The Prince of Wales off the coast of Scotland when we were there. Adrian recognized the shape, but we were very far away and the 2 photos are blurred. You have the prime position. I might send you a blurred photo in a an email. ;-)

This spectacular PoV gives away the sheer scale of this vessel, the details of the buildings and marina are incredible.
I saw some other photos in the online news - yours is so much better!
Very well done Nick.

Thanks for the glowing report Maggs. Yes I have a unique position over looking all the harbour, the Solent, the IOW , Southampton Water, Fareham and way beyond Hayling Island. 360 degrees of view, most of it with water

A great catch Nick. I presume this is the sister ship of 'The Queen Elizabeth'. I saw documentaries of the building of that in Scotland and also of her going into New York. Two ships to be proud of at last but hopefully never used in anger! Well done. Herb

You presume correctly Herb, she is in the final stages of sea trials and will be commissioned before too long. I too have been watching and enjoying the TV series
