Slate slab wagons from Oakeley Quarry, Blaenau Ffestiniog.

Slate slab wagons from Oakeley Quarry, Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Some information is here.. www.penmorfa.com/Slate/oakeley.html

Note these wagons have dual flanges on the wheels... Neither are they fixed to the axles.
This makes them more suitable for the rough irregular tracks in the mine..

My dear Füsun,

Thank you so much for your visit here, and very kind comments. How else could I make some old slate slab wagons interesting! These would be used to take lumps of slate from the mine into the sheds for splitting and dressing.. Since slate mining generates a massive percentage of waste, all processing is best done on site at the mine, and only finished product transported...
Of course you will know this from Ynys y Pandy mill... www.ipernity.com/doc/2247998/44036188

Thank you Steve

The wheels are pretty unusual, so I wanted to make them a big part of the picture. I am pleased that you like the representation!

I am happy that you like the attempt at creativity here. I tried to make it a little more interesting than a line of old trucks!!
