Fog in the Jarama Valley. The Sierra de La Cabrera can be seen in all its craggy but tiny extent. To the left is the brooding hulk of Mondalindo which is not granite and therefore much more rounded. Usually the mountains would be snow covered up till May but not this year.
My sister's shot.
View from the upper terrace. HFF everyone!

When it gets a bit warmer, this is a nice spot to have breakfast as it gets the sun in the morning. Other meals can be taken outside but round the front of the house as this terrace is in shade for most of the day as it is north facing. I'll post a view from the lower terrace in a few days time, taken on the same day but a little earlier and a rather different aspect and shot.
Perhaps best on full screen.

A great soul has departed and ipernity will be the less without Marie-claire's kindness and beauty of spirit.

More granite splendour in The Mountains of Madrid or La Sierra de Guadarrama. It might take a little while to locate the farmhouse among the rocks! This was an extremely hot day.

Part of our front garden.
It takes 100 steps to make a complete lap of this garden. Useful for me to know as I have my set daily target of steps as part of of my recovery programme.

A week or two later than last year but then winter did hang around much longer this year.
UPDATE; for those who asked what variety of rose this is, I had forgotten that I DID find out last year, just before I was struck down with Covid and I have tended to forget knowledge acquired just before then. The name of the rose is ALFRED SISLEY..
More coastal erosion near Porthtowan.
H. A. N. W. E. everyone!

I STILL haven't seen a hoopoe in the flesh! This one paid a visit to my window sill (I have an office desk on this side of the window) on a day spent at the hospital for tests. My sister took this shot through glass.
One day I might actually see one!!

Granite country. Canchos Largo and Gordo are the twin peaks on the horizon. Despite the sun, this was an exceedingly cold January day! H. A. N. W. E. everyone!

Sierra de La Cabrera. Madrid is a smudge on the horizon between the two left-hand pillars.
This was the last time I went walking in these mountains. My objective is to get back up there next spring and that will involve a lot of physiotherapy! But no pain no gain!

The 'face profile' on the right is Cancho Largo, the highest point in the sierra and a good challenge for rock climbers (there were none that day, I have in the past posted shots of climbers tackling the overhang).
