Roman Road

Roman Road
Near the town of Zarzalejo and not far from El Escorial. There are no major Roman roads or settlements near here and no record, apart from what you see, of this undoubtedly Roman road! A mystery. Some scholars surmise that it served mines in the mountains.
I find I posted this shot a couple of years back too. Oh well - I'm doing this more and more often. I remember Pano used to advise us if we'd posted the same shot twice! Maybe something IMA could look at?

The Romans built to last:-)
About double posting- I guess that's something at the very back of the queue for IMA, there's lots of more important stuff to be done before that.

Thanks Gudrun. I was never suggesting it should be a priority for anyone. I accept that the onus is on me to try and be more careful!!!! As Doug says below ...

In my defense, I thought I had posted a shot from a different angle but it turns out that there was only ever the one shot!
Many thanks, Doug!

Was there a villa or house near there Andy.............this could have been a Roman patio? The decking has long rotted away, but you can still see the remains of the paving stones.

On a more serious note............this is nicely composed . I also like the lush green colours of the trees and grass.

Definitely a road as any aerial photo and / or map will verify.
